Die Mitglieder der Drehscheibe ermöglichen mit ihren Beiträgen den Schulbesuch von 10 Patenkindern aus den nördlichen Provinzen im Alter von 15 bis 19 Jahren.

Die Jugendlichen, fünf Mädchen: Arisa (18), Buntarika, Rawee (17), Orachit (19), und Ammarin (16) sowie fünf Jungs: Jiraphan (16), Phithaya (16) Ekachai, Nuttapon (15) und Roengrit (18) lernen auch English und berichten in zum Teil rührenden Briefen aus ihrem Alltag und den Fortschritten in der Schule. Obwohl das Familienumfeld meist mehr eine zusätzliche Belastung als Unterstützung für die Schüler ist und sie oft mit zum Lebensunterhalt der Familie beitragen müssen, sind sie sich der Chance bewusst, dass nur eine gut abgeschlossene Schulausbildung der Weg in eine bessere Zukunft ist. Leider passiert es auch, dass ein Jugendlicher die Schule vorher verlassen muss; in diesem Fall nimmt ein anderes 'Patenkind' den Platz ein.

Dear Drehscheibe,

I am Boontanica Pupaluang, ISG fund student (248), very grateful for your support constantly. I have received the fund for the frist period of 2002-2000 baht and as usual I will spend it at the most useful. For my daily life, I spend my time helping my family.

School holiday - help my mum for the work she is employed - such as housework, laundry, ironing in the morning. In the afternoon for Mon, Wed, Fri I work at the doctor's house, do the housework, washing up and cleaning. Moreover, each week I take 3 customers for the ironing at home.

School time - I go to school as timetable and after the school, for Mon-Wed-Fri I work at the hospital as I do on school holiday. On Sat-Sun I help my mum at her place and do the ironing for 3 customers too.

For my spare time, I try to do the revision and search for new knowledge. Now I am studying at Mahasarakam Institution.
